What to Expect at the Retreat

Come meet other Quilters and make new friends, while having so much time to finish projects! The Quilter's Lodge provides ironing boards and cutting tables, so you can bring your sewing machine and fabric and get right to work. There is plenty of room to spread out and really dig into your projects!

Guests have the option to lodge at the retreat for the full experience or purchase day passes for $35 if they prefer to come and go. This flexibility makes it easy to fit the retreat into your schedule.

Bring and Share: De-stash and Snacks

One of the unique features of this retreat is the opportunity to bring de-stash fabric to share

with others. This creates a fun exchange where you can find new materials and help others find treasures for their projects.

You are also welcome to bring snacks or plan a meal to share with the group. The lodge is conveniently located near grocery stores and many restaurants, so you can easily pick up anything you need or enjoy dining out.

Door Prizes and Community Spirit

The retreat thrives on community spirit. If you have quilting supplies or related items to donate for door prizes, your contribution is greatly appreciated. Prizes add to the fun!

Rest and Relaxation

Last year, Kiki provided facials and similar services on Saturdays, and due to its popularity, we are planning to offer it again this year! In addition to facials, we are excited to announce that we will also have a massage therapist available one day to assist with the pesky neck and shoulder stiffness that often comes from our extreme sewing.

Services are offered at a discounted rate for our group, and tipping is appreciated for their hard work and expertise.

Make & Take and Demos

There will be a cute make and take that will provide a great take home memory of the retreat, and if anyone is interested in doing a demo or short class, we'd love to have you share your skills! It's been fun at previous retreats as a break from projects!

Tips for Making the Most of Your Retreat Experience

  • Plan your projects ahead: Bring patterns, fabric, and tools ready to go so you can maximize your time.

  • Pack comfortable clothing: You’ll be sitting and moving around a lot, so comfort is key. Shoes or slippers are required in the work area.

  • Connect with other quilters: Share ideas, tips, and stories to enrich your experience.

  • Take breaks: Step outside or explore Draper to refresh your mind. There is a great deck and garden, depending on the weather.

  • Bring your de-stash: Sharing fabric can lead to new creative ideas and friendships.

  • Consider donating for door prizes or gift bags: There is no charge for our retreat (besides the lodging or day pass by the Quilter's Lodge), and we want to keep it that way! Donating prizes, sharing your de-stash, or hosting a make & take are great ways to support the retreat and are very much appreciated.

  • Share your skills: If you have an area of expertise, plan a small project or class to share with other quilters. We love to learn and try new (or old) things!

  • RSVP to the event on this site. This helps us plan for gift bags, personalized stuff, and make and take. https://www.alwaysbesewing.com/event-list

Meals

Meals are not provided during the retreat, but several local people in the past have provided a group meal, so some will be covered. We'll provide more info on that as plans finalize. In the past we've also ordered Doordash together for some meals and headed to nearby grocery stores for sandwich and breakfast stuff that is shared. If you feel like providing for any meals or shared food, let us know.
